For a moment, we set aside our daily concerns and turn our gaze, our attention, and our hearts toward You. Where have You made Yourself present to us today?
This month, we pray with Pope Leo for the values of sports. The Pope writes: “During a sporting activity, a person often concentrates entirely on what they are doing. There is a fusion between action and consciousness, so that there is no longer room for explicit attention to oneself. In this sense, such an experience interrupts the tendency toward self-centeredness.”
What helps us overcome self-centeredness? Lord, broaden our gaze, broaden our hearts.
