Sarah Davis · · News about the Church
Three years after the October 7 attacks, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, describes a Holy Land gripped by deep mistrust and fragmentation. In an interview with the Vatican's media outlets, he highlights the alarming absence of law in the West Bank and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza as winter approaches.

The atmosphere of uncertainty and economic difficulty is also heavily impacting local Christian communities, leading many to consider emigration. Cardinal Pizzaballa stresses the urgent need to keep international attention focused on the region to eventually bring this terrible situation to an end.
