Following a 7.7 magnitude earthquake on October 9, the bishops of Panama issued a letter to the nation encouraging them in the aftermath. The earthquake displaced people, damaged infrastructure, injured at least 27 people, and damaged about 900 homes. In response, the Catholic Bishops of Panama expressed their closeness, prayers, and solidarity, urging that parishes become true homes with open doors to welcome and assist those in need.
