Archbishop Luigi Roberto Cona, Apostolic Nuncio to Syria, visited the historic Christian villages of Yaqubie, Knaye and Ghassanieh in Idlib province. He received a warm welcome from communities marked by war, displacement and earthquake. The Nuncio listened to their fears and hopes, encouraging trust in God. The Franciscan friars continue to sustain faith and hope in these ancient lands. Young people shared their need for training and employment; ideas for restoring traditional buildings were discussed to revive the local economy.
