Thousands filled the cathedral and surrounding courtyards of Chiang Mai this morning to witness the installation of Bishop Peter Suphot Roeksujarit as the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Chiang Mai. The Mass, concelebrated by bishops from across Thailand and the Apostolic Nuncio, reflected the vibrant diversity of a diocese spanning four provinces and home to numerous hill tribe communities. For a diocese that waited over two years for a shepherd, the day carried a tangible sense of hope and renewal. As one attendee noted, the Church is alive and still walking. Bishop Suphot's motto, 'Love unites all hearts,' speaks to the unity amid diversity.
