The Catholic Church in Malawi has celebrated 125 years of evangelisation with a Eucharistic celebration at St Mary’s Nzama Parish in the Diocese of Dedza. The quasquicentennial celebration on 19 September 2026 marked the historic site where the Montfort Missionaries established the first permanent Catholic mission in 1901.

Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu presided over the liturgy, which included the ordination of two new priests and brought together bishops, clergy, government representatives, and the faithful under the theme of being rooted in Christ and sent for mission.
