Archbishop Richard Alarcón Urrutia of Cusco passed away on Friday, October 30, at the age of 74 following a long illness. The Archdiocese of Cusco announced his death, noting that it occurred just days before Pope Leo XIV’s scheduled visit to the Peruvian city on November 15. His body is currently lying in state at Cusco’s Cathedral, with his funeral set for Sunday, November 1.
