On the eve of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly in Nairobi, Catholic leaders from across Eastern Africa gathered for a Strategic Convening on Ethical Investment. The Nairobi Declaration they produced calls on the Church to ensure its financial decisions reflect Catholic Social Teaching, care for creation, and the common good. Rooted in Laudato Si', the document draws attention to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor, and urges greater involvement of young people in diocesan decision-making and renewable energy initiatives. It also addresses the region's energy poverty and climate challenges, calling for a just transition. The Declaration invites bishops to deepen participation in the Laudato Si' Action Platform and to reflect these commitments in the Assembly's final message.
