Children in Lebanon are bearing the brunt of the country's overlapping crises, aid agencies say, facing rising casualties, mass displacement, severe food insecurity and deep psychological trauma. More than 770,000 children are experiencing heightened distress, with many unable to return home because of the threat of unexploded ordnance. Since March, thousands of families have been uprooted, while homes, schools and essential services have been damaged. The country is undergoing one of the worst economic collapses in modern history, with roughly 80% of the population living in poverty.
