South Africa: Gauteng faith leaders urge respect for women and human life - Vatican News

David Martinez · · News about the Church
Faith leaders in South Africa’s Gauteng province have strongly condemned the killing of nine women in Ekurhuleni. Gathered as the Gauteng Interfaith Leadership Council, they called for a sustained effort to rebuild respect for human life and combat gender-based violence.

Cardinal Stephen Brislin read the statement on Tuesday, emphasizing that the victims are beloved members of communities rather than mere statistics. The leaders urged diligent investigations, justice for perpetrators, and collaborative educational efforts starting within families.
