WITH JESUS IN THE MORNING
The Evangelization of Cities
It's a new month. This month, Pope Leo invites us to pray for evangelization in the city. Together with the whole Church praying with him, and with this Prayer Network, I offer myself to God this morning for this intention.
Lord, so many challenges await us in the cities. Together with You, we want to face these challenges as a Church, with compassion. We count on You. And You count on us. Here I am; I place myself at Your service.
Jesus was the first to strive for the happiness of others. He gave his life so that we might live. Today’s Gospel reminds us of the martyrdom of John the Baptist, who had spoken the truth to the king. “Although he wanted to kill him, Herod was afraid of the crowd, because they regarded John as a prophet.” (Mt 14:5)
Working for the good of our cities requires wisdom, courage, and trust in You. Lord, place my heart next to the Heart of Jesus, so that today I may humbly radiate the joy of the Gospel, following in Your footsteps.
I will now say the offering prayer.
