WITH JESUS DURING THE DAY
Poverty and Good News
โThe poor are those excluded from society, [just as Jesus was]. Jesus is the revelation of this privilege of the poor. He presents himself to the world not only as the poor Messiah, but also as the Messiah of the poor and for the poor.โ (Leรณn XIV)
When a city welcomes the Good News, it receives it from the poor. For the poor carry the ends with them, while the means are usually in the hands of others.
Today, the poor are the living presence of Jesus. They bring us salvation, hope, and trust on his behalf.
Lord, I want to respond to the call you extend to me through those who experience poverty.
I pray the prayer of the month in union with the entire Popeโs Worldwide Prayer Network.
