Being Truly Close
At midday, I pause for a moment to gather myself and refocus on your presence, Lord. During this time of stillness, I allow your light to shine upon me, illuminating my thoughts and purifying my gaze.
Love is not passive; it reaches out to others. Being a neighbor does not depend on physical or social proximity, but on the decision to love. That is why Christians become neighbors to those who suffer, following the example of Christ, the true divine Samaritan who drew near to wounded humanity. (Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the 34th World Day of the Sick).
I let these words resonate in my heart and allow them to challenge me. Am I love? Who is my neighbor? How can I recognize my neighbor?
