Today is the monthly day of prayer for mental health. This month the Pope prays for respect for human life.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink… will surely not lose his reward.”
Simple acts can show respect, especially to people who are struggling with a serious mental illness, who often are not shown any respect.
Small gestures, such as a genuine smile and hello, that recognize a person’s dignity, regardless of their mental health challenges, are of great importance to Christ and will be rewarded.
