On the third day of the 12th FABC Plenary Assembly, bishops and delegates across Asia set aside reports for a Day of Prayer and Recollection. Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, led a spiritual conference reflecting on John 1:43-51. He emphasized that Christians become bridge-builders only by first encountering Christ, the true bridge between heaven and earth. Drawing from Jacob’s ladder, Cardinal Tagle noted that Christ unites the vertical relationship with God and the horizontal relationship with humanity and creation. His reflection laid a spiritual foundation for the Assembly’s discussions on synodal conversion and bridge-building in Asia’s diverse context.
