Walking pilgrimages to Jasna Góra reach their peak on August 15, as thousands of people and successive generations follow the same road. On August 13 alone, around 21,000 people arrived in 11 large pilgrimages and one international group.
The Pabianice pilgrimage makes its 558th journey this year, the Warsaw Walking Pilgrimage has continued without interruption since 1711, and pilgrims from Pustków had the longest route to cover, 405 miles. The tradition dates to the Middle Ages and remains a vivid expression of faith and community in Poland.
