The Rimini Meeting opened with a powerful testimony of friendship and hope as Roseline Hamel, sister of murdered priest Father Jacques Hamel, and Nassera Kermiche, mother of one of his killers, appeared together. Both lost loved ones on opposite sides of the same act of violence, yet they sought one another out and now call themselves sisters in sorrow. Their witness opened a Meeting dedicated to asking whether love can still move human hearts amid war, hatred and division. This year's theme is taken from Dante's Divine Comedy: the love which moves the sun and the other stars. Attention now turns to Pope Leo XIV's visit Saturday.
