WITH JESUS IN THE MORNING
Openness to Your Call
On the feast of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian, I prepare myself inwardly for an encounter with the Lord as I begin this new day.
Today’s Gospel tells us: “At that time, the Lord said: ‘To whom, then, shall I compare the people of this generation? Who are they like?’” Lk 7:31–35. Just as the people of that generation did not welcome John—austere and demanding—nor You—approachable and human—and thus refused to be converted. Today I examine what excuses and reservations I have for not accepting Your call to salvation. What does it cost me to accept the invitations You have extended to me recently?
Lord, give me a docile heart, like that of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian, so that I may not place conditions on what You lovingly ask of me today.
I offer this day to You, Lord.
