WITH JESUS IN THE MORNING๐ ๐ ๐
Taking Up the Cross
On this Sunday, I join all Christians who are gathering to celebrate the Holy Eucharist. And I hear a passage from the Gospel: โIf anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.โ (Mt 16:21โ27)
How do I receive these words of Jesus? These words may frighten me, but taking up the cross does not necessarily mean enduring unbearable suffering; it means embracing what life gives us each day, its joys and its difficulties. I speak about this with Jesus.
I think about the activities and encounters I will experience today, and I offer to the Lord whatever I am called to experience: the joys, the unexpected events, and perhaps some sorrow or suffering. May He give me His Spirit so that I may live through it with trust.
