Nearly one hundred volunteers from across Europe are spending their summer in Cyprus for the fifth edition of the Sant’Egidio Solidarity Holiday, accompanying refugee families at the Pournara Reception Centre and the Kofinou-Limnes Refugee Camp. The mission is one of presence, friendship, and hope, offering displaced people human warmth and practical support.

At the Tent of Friendship, around 200 refugees gather each evening for meals and emotional healing. Volunteers also offer English language courses, and the School of Peace has reopened its doors to nearly 50 children.

By choosing to stand beside people forced to flee conflict and persecution, the volunteers embody the Gospel values of compassion, welcome, and peace.
