After the Angelus, Pope Leo XIV expressed concern about the ongoing violence in Sudan and between Russia and Ukraine. He expressed spiritual closeness to all who suffer, especially in Sudan's el-Obeid, and renewed his appeal for humanitarian corridors and an immediate ceasefire. The Pope also asked for respect for international humanitarian law and for an end to attacks that target civilians. War only breeds more war, he said, and it is time to stop the spiral of violence and make room for diplomacy and dialogue. He invited everyone to pray for the conversion of hearts and for the long-awaited peace.
