After decades of abandonment, a historic Marian Shrine and Mission at Pandamatenga has been consecrated and reopened by Bishop Raphael Macebo Mabuza Ncube of the Catholic Diocese of Hwange. Located along the Victoria Falls–Bulawayo Road, the sacred site is now dedicated to Mary Queen of the Assumption. Bishop Ncube said the Mission is open as a place of prayer for the local community and for pilgrims travelling on the road, who thirsted for such a place. The shrine also holds the tombs of missionary pioneers, and the Bishop dedicated it for prayer and healing of physical and mental ailments.
