WITH JESUS DURING THE DAY
Spirit of Solidarity
In the middle of the day, I pause and take these words to heart: “We need to foster a spirit of solidarity that recognizes food and access to water as universal rights of all human beings, without distinction or discrimination” (Benedict XVI)
Individualism, which fails to take others into account, impoverishes life and bears no fruit. The Way of the Heart invites us to step away from the globalization of indifference and to be compassionate like Jesus: it is painful to see so many brothers and sisters who lack clean water and fall ill because of its scarcity.
Let us remain in the Spirit that gives life, renouncing selfishness and learning to care for one another.
I finish with the monthly prayer.
