More than 5,000 people gathered in Chennai on 9th August 2026 for India's 5th National March for Life. Organised by CHARIS India under the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India, the march marked five years of parish-level efforts by families and lay volunteers. For the first time, the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore established Pro-Life Cells in every parish. Cardinal Antony Poola described the Church's mission as safeguarding unborn children and elderly persons vulnerable to euthanasia. The 6th National March for Life will be held in Hyderabad on 8th and 9th August 2027.
