Church and government authorities in Angola have confirmed readiness to host the annual Marian pilgrimage to Mama Muxima at the Shrine of Our Lady of Muxima in the Diocese of Viana. After a meeting in Viana and an on-site visit, officials said they aimed to assess and strengthen preparations. Pope Leo XIV visited the shrine in April and led thousands of pilgrims in the Holy Rosary. Organizers now expect more pilgrims for the pilgrimage from 3 to 6 September under the theme Mama Muxima, kind Mother and model of holiness, pray for us. Government units and security bodies are coordinating with the Church to ensure a dignified and prayerful environment.
